eliteWushu CNY Lunch 2009

There goes the mth of Jan... Time flies. We had our annual CNY lunch on 1 Feb this year , which falls on the 7th day on the Lunar Calender (人日).
3 new faces this yr, Coach Wang Jue, Shu Zhi and JiaDe. A much stronger team than last yr; which is a gd start for the year of the Xo. I look forward to many more years of enjoyable working relationship together... Thank you guys (eliteTeam) for the wonder yrs before and ahead!

Sport On! Kids Club - Fun Wushu Workshop

In conjunction with the Singapore Sports Council, Sport On! Kids Club’s theme of February - Martial Arts, eliteWushu is proud to be invited to conduct a Wushu Workshop with the goal of promoting sports as an active and healthy lifestyle choice among children, aged 3-12 years old and their families.
Wushu, as a sport not only enhances the physical health of young children, it also boosts the mental health, self confidence and self esteem of young children, these children would also develop valuable life skills such as leadership and team building through Wushu training. Some of the programme highlights are:
- Wushu display and performance by our team of student athletes
- Values of learning wushu- Stretching exercises commonly done in wushu
- Basic wushu skills: upper and lower limbs movements
- Agility games and motor skills training
- Parents and child interaction exercises
- Common weaponry display

This workshop will be held on a weekend in the heart of Singapore!

Date: 21 Feb 2009 (Saturday)
Time: 5pm to 6.15pm.

Goodbye Coach Zhang, Gdbye 2008...

It's the last day of 2008! 31 Dec 08, approximately 7 more hours, and we will say Goodbye to 2008!

This morning, together with the team of coaches from eliteWushu and some other former and current National Team athletes, we were at the airport to send Coach Zhang off. After serving our N.Team for ard 5yrs (I think?) and leading our Olympic Team to Beijing, he has decided to return to China to pursue his career. A great coach and a Mr. Nice Guy, no doubt. Coach Zhang gave us lots of guidance in many diff areas. We, at eliteWushu wishes him all the best in China!

Suddenly have an urge to do a simple review of 2008 after an early morning and a whole day of planning, phone calls etc... Looking back, eliteWushu has 'grew' in many aspect. Let me list down whatever I can think off...

Coaches:
We had 3 coaches coming onboard in 2008, bringing with them more than 15yrs off coaching experience in total. They are Senior Coach Mr. Quek C H, Coach Wang Jun, Coach Lawrence. On top of them, we also have a few assistant coaches who assisted in our trainings in one way or another.

Endorsements:
- We achieved the 3 targets set for 2008 in the area of endorsements. SEP, PA and SSC.
- All the schools which have engaged us since we 1st started are still engaging our services. This showed that we have been performing up to, if not above the expectation of our clients.
- We had an increment of 80% in terms of client base with MOE schools

Programmes:
- School: Our programmes in 2008 has benefited more than 3,000 students from more than 17 schools
- Others: our branches have also showed a 40% growth in enrolment.

Achievements:
- 90.1% of the schools which we coach competitive wushu in, has at least 2 students who achieved a top 4 position in the National Schools competition this yr.
- Under the guidance of our experience coaches, we also have a handful of Medalist in this yr's National Competition.

Staff Upgrade:
- 80% of our staff have upgraded themselves this yr, showing a development and upholding of professionalism in our fields. We have 3 certified International Coaches, 1 Grade 'A' International Judge, 1 NCAP 3 and 2 NCAP 2 coaches.
- Mr. Loe also had a renewal in his contract with the S'pore Sports Sch for the 3rd consecutive year

Other Events:
- Wushu Matrix: We held our 1st holiday camp successfully with 'WushuCafe' and 'CNIS', with the support from SSC and S'pore pools.
- Overseas Immersion Programme: As per target, we led a team of students to China for an annual upgrading programme.

To sum up, 2008 has been a tiring but exciting and fulfilling year! Most of the target set were achieved!
We, at eliteWushu would like to thank all students, parents and schools for their continual support and we wish everyone a Happy New Year and a Great 2009!

Success of Wushu Matrix 08

Sorry for the short 'disappearance'! Fell ill after 'Wushu Matrix' (WM). Doc say I overworked or maybe sick coz of stress! Haha.. But after medication and rest, I'm all well again!

I have been uploading pic for WM on facebk and also 'entertaining' request to have pic of all the cute kids sent to pple! WM was a great success. All thanks to parents, participants, coaches, helpers and all those who popped by (Coach Eugene, LJ, GH etc..)! Special thanks to the Wushu Team of the following schools: NGYH, MacPerson ITE, Republic Poly, Admiralty Pri Sch too! Not forgetting sponsors and partners: Wushucafe, CNIS, Feng Po Zhuang, SSC, S'pore Pools and Capital 95.8!

We will see you again in the next WM!

Bz mth... Back from HangZhou

Hey.. sorry for all the empty post for the past few weeks... Had been really bz! Nv felt so bz in the mth of Nov and Dec before!

Anyway, just some updates..
27 Nov-4Dec: Was away on a wushu training trip to Hangzhou
Great trip.. everything was great! Really happy to see the kids improved alot over the 5 days of training. (Our kids were honoured to train under a Asia Champion and a World Champion!)
The only regret I had was I didnt have much time to shop and get a haircut!
Oh ya, 西湖 was fabulous!

5Dec till now: Preparation for Wushu Matrix!
Had a couple of meetings the moment I came back... Did some final preparation work today. Thanks to the 4 girls from NYGH, we finally managed to settle all the art work and goodies bags.

Finally, I finished editing the video for Wushu Matrix! Think it took me more than 10 hrs in total to edit it! Amazing...

Ok.. I gtg.. still have lots of outstanding work to rush before I have to start planning for my X-mas Party.

Some of the kids performed at a regular RC event last week. They were later given a KFC treat by the organisors.. (We had more than 30 sets of KFC burgers! haha...) It was a nice gathering though we had to wake up early on a Sunday.. Thanks guys and parents for joining us.. Well done! :)

This is gona be my last entry of the day before I head to bed... Was a tiring day! NUS High Sch the whole morning, then Proficiency Test in the afternoon at Maris followed by training and cert presentation in the evening! There's a whole day of event tmr awaiting me! One week jus flew so fast man.. But eliteTeam is enjoying it! I'm sure the coaches agree with me rite! haha..

Anyway, let's talk about the last entry of the day!
We had our presentation of cert today at our Compassvale Branch. Here are some of the pic I told (again with my camera phone. Hee...) Congrates to all of you! You have done well!

The course details for eliteWushu@Bugis has been uploaded at www.elitewushu.com.

We will be opening 2 programmes:
(1) Basic Wushu Introductory Programme and
(2) ’FUN’deMental Programme

The former will be an introductory targeted at children and young adults who want to find out what wushu is like. The syllabus of this programme is specially design by my eliteTeam!

As for the later, is a new programme aim to improve the motor skills of children. I designed the syllabus of this programme is together with a gd friend of mine from the Strength & Conditioning industry.

What's more? The 1st 50 registrants receive a $20 shopping voucher!

Busy Week. Teachers' Day Lunch!

It's 3.05pm. Time for some updates while I take a break from all the planning and proposals... It's been a busy month so far especially with all the new programmes in various schools.

New programme in Beacon Pri and the new Focus Training @ Hougang last mth. Then came ACES day programme before teachers' day (I thought I could take a break on Teachers' day eve!)

Had a Teachers' Day lunch at 'Peony Jade Restaurant’ in Clark Quay with all the coaches. It was a wonderful gathering given the fact that everyone are always at different schools and training locations and we hardly get to catch up unless on specially occasions. We had an amazing long lunch (12.oo-3pm)! And the most amazing thing was... We were too engrossed with our food and 'chit chat' till we forgot to take a single photo!! OMG.. Wen Xin brought her new Camera but didn’t get to showcase it!! Must remember to take more photos next Time.

The Sep Holiday was no holiday for us! Schools requested for intensive trainings which was somehow good for the kids, and it was nice to see the kids back smiling for training despite having to wake up early. And I must share this training I had with one of the schools in town. The teachers in charge initiated on a warm up run for the kids ard Clark Quay! Yes!! Morning run at 9am in Clark Quay. Coach Wen Xin and I joined in the run.. or rather walk in our case.. haha. It's really nice to do a morning 'walk' along the S'pore river. The kids were shouting cheers and jogging as a grp. We caught the eyes of many tourists along the way! I didn’t know that tourist do visit clark quay in the day too! haha...

After the Sep Holidays, I had to pilot a few more new sch teams and programmes in PEPS and NUS High Sch etc. The lots from NUS High Sch are really great! They showed really positive attitude towards learning and are all pretty fast learners. Looking forward to seeing them soon.

Ok.. that's all I have for now. Got to get back to work. Have a big project coming up. Still trying to finalised all the fine details for the new setup in Bugis somewhere in Oct/Nov. Will update again here.

Mid Autumn Celebration

Here the 1st entry of eliteWushu’s Blog!

We celebrated Mid Autumn Festival 2 days in advance at our Compassvale Southgate RC branch today or rather just now… (coz already passed 12 midnite.)

Time flies… It seems like only yesterday when we celebrated this day last yr! Last year when we celebrated this festival, there was only about 20+ students and 3 coaches. This year, we had approximately 40+ students and 6 coaches! Seems like an indication that we have had a great progression over the last one yr!

As usual, lantern and sparkers burning fast while mooncakes lied untouched on the table! We are so glad that the kids enjoyed themselves with the mini celebration. Too bad it only lasted till 10pm as the Town Council has to off the lights. Rest assure next year we will have more time to have fun when we move into our new Training HQ in Bugis!!
